A landlord has been taken to court after he put his tenants’ lives at risk.
The unlicensed landlord was fined after renting out rooms with dangerous electrics in Slough.
He was prosecuted after refusing to pay.
The landlord was fined £37,000 due to a breach of management regulations and failing to comply with an improvement notice.
Since the hearing in June he has refused to pay the fine or engage with Slough Borough Council.
The council subsequently applied to the County Court for a judgement which was granted, meaning the £37,000 fine has been placed on the property.
Rooms in the property were rented out separately, despite there being serious hazards.
Single pieces of wire were used instead of fuses and dangerous wiring was also found in an outbuilding believed to be used as accommodation.
The landlord ignored requests for improvements.
