The ex-wife of a Russian billionaire is preparing for the next step in a three-year legal battle in her bid to receive nearly £450million that she is owed by her ex-husband.
Tatiana Akhmedova was awarded a 41.5% share of businessman Farkhad Akhmedov’s £1billion-plus fortune by a British divorce court judge in 2016.
However, Mr Justice Haddon-Cave, who analysed the case at a trial in the Family Division of the High Court in London, has been told, she has only received about £5million.
A judge in London is now set to analyse the latest stage of the litigation at another hearing due to take place this year.
Mrs Justice Gwynneth Knowles says she will consider issues concerning documents relating to Mr Akhmedov’s financial affairs at a hearing in the Family Division of the High Court in London.
Mr Justice Haddon-Cave’s £453million award is thought to be the biggest of its kind made in England and Wales.
A spokesman for Farkhad Akhmedov said: “Mr Akhmedov and his ex wife were both Russian citizens when they were married in 1992 and subsequently divorced in 2000 in Moscow. Following that divorce, Mr Akhmedov provided lavishly for his ex-wife and their two sons. He does not believe she had any rights to pursue a further matrimonial settlement 13 years later in England and that the English High Court was misguided in making any award against him.”
