A landlord has been fined after he failed to provide information about one of his properties when asked to do so by a council.
Tenants of a home in Colchester contacted Colchester Council in December last year with concerns about the property.
The council launched an investigation into potential breaches of housing standards law and served landlord Philip Hogg with a notice.
The council requested information about the ownership and management of the property. Mr Hogg, however, failed to provide the information and was subsequently summonsed to appear at Colchester Magistrates’ Court for a hearing but failed to attend.
In his absence Mr Hogg was found guilty of failing to comply with the requirements of the notice.
He was fined £1,760 for the offence, ordered to pay £150 in court costs and a £170 victim surcharge.
