Three people have been given suspended prison sentences after they illegally evicted a tenant.
When tenant Kara Cox returned home to her shared house in Rugeley, she found the security code to her floor had been changed and a handwritten note purporting to be her notice of eviction.
Ms Cox was unable to access her home or belongings and discovered the door to her room had been removed.
When she accessed her room the following day, she found the heating and electricity to her room had been switched off.
Furthermore, her window had been nailed open and her fridge freezer had been left unplugged rendering her food inedible.
Nigel Whorton, Jonathon Williams and Rebecca Brayshaw were found guilty of two offences at Cannock Magistrates’ Court.
All sentences were suspended for 18 months although each of them must carry out unpaid work and pay £1,000 compensation to Ms Cox and pay council costs of over £9,000.
